What's Up Wednesday - 1/31/2024

Happy last day of January!  This seemed like the longest, darkest, coldest month.  I don't think Rochester experienced more than 5 days of sun the entire month. BRUTAL!  Here is to hoping February is much better! Like last month, I am linking up with 2 of my favorite bloggers, Sheaffer and Shay    1.  What have we been up to? SPORTS! We are doing travel baseball and travel soccer this year.  It's going to be a crazy spring and summer. This weekend we had our first soccer tournament. The club Derek plays for hosted it.  The boys played all day Saturday and the girls on Sunday.  The outcome of his 3 games wasn't what we wanted; but the boys have come along way.  Derek is very competitive, and he was getting very frustrated.  It was a good lesson in teamwork and being able to move on from experiences.  Always a teaching moment! We also enjoyed Reading With The Amerks (AHL local hockey team) at the library.  They put t...

Lake Life Dreaming

Winter is here in Rochester and I hate it.  I enjoy snow during Christmas, and maybe for a bit after, then I am done. We were able to go sledding this year, which we didn't get to do last year.  We have friends that built an outdoor rink and that was SO much fun!  But... it's defiantly not my favorite season.  I like sunshine and being warm. I love looking on FB and Pinterest at ocean homes and lake houses.  I love the views, sunsets and the decor.  Today I thought we could dream about summer or a warm weather place. Let's take a peek into stranger's homes!  Most of these, as you can see are screen shots because I never meant to do anything with them besides be inspired.  Most of these I don't have sources for so if you find the source, I'll link them.  But all of them are beautiful. Today's focus is going to be out outside spaces and views Personal picture. Fourth Lake in the ADK, NY.  Gorgeous sunsets Personal picture. Beautiful summer...

What a great quote for January. 5 simple letters, but they can be so scary in the order of the word... S-T-A-R-T It doesn't matter what you want to do to. Try and take a small step today towards it.  Just start.  You don't have to tackle the entire idea / project / diet / organization / etc....  Today, just start by writing down what you want to accomplish.  Come up with 1-2 small things you can do to get closer to your goal and START. Once you have accomplished these small things, add 2 more to the list.  By writing down your goal and seeing it on paper it will help you be accountable. You can't accomplish your goal unless you start. You got this!

Let's Look - January - Closet

Let's Look - January  I am linking up with Shay and Erika for January's Let's Look - How We Clean Our Closets.  If you are just joining from the link party, WELCOME!  I am so glad you are here.  I am starting out blogging after being an avid reader for years!  I'll be talking about motherhood, business, tips/tricks, life and books.  I post on Monday's and Wednesdays.  Stop back next Monday for an inspirational quote to get your week started right. My closet is not Insta-worthy or Pinterst-worthy at all.  It's just an everyday closet, and honestly, I didn't clean it.  I definitely could have straightened it out more, but this is real life.  So why am I going on the internet to share my closet.... because I have a few tips that work for us that may work for you as well. Here it is... she is small but mighty!  We use every single space in here.  Now I wish it didn't have the wire shelves, but I don't hate them enough to pu...

December Book Review.... AND full list from 2023

Welcome to my favorite post of the month - BOOK REVIEW!   Going forward this post will be the first Wednesday of the month.  This month was different because of the word of the year post last week.  In December I technically read 5 books.  However, the books in the Asheville series were short and quick reads.  Honestly, they could have been combined to make one long book.  So, without any more chatter, below are the books I read in December. Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews My Rating: 3.5 / 5 Back of book: The night before her wedding, in the middle of an oh-so-smart rehearsal dinner, interior decorator Keeley Murdock chances upon her fiancĂ© and maid of honor in flaming flagrante delicto. Keeley throws the hissy fit to end all hissy fits, storms out and earns herself instant notoriety in her tiny hometown of Madison, GA. The next day, though, she has to deal not only with a broken engagement but also with her business being shut out by folks in a t...

I love the start of a New Year.  It's a fresh start, clean slate and a chance to take a look at the year ahead.   In the last post , I talked about how I don't make New Years Resolutions.  Instead, I decide on a WORD.  I think of what I want the year to look like. How I want to shape decisions and what I want to accomplish.   This year I chose.......
