Summer is Winding Down

Summer is winding down! I know throughout the entire summer I kept staying how fast it was going. It always goes fast, but that's a good thing. It is good that it seems like its flying because that means you are having fun!  We should be having fun and enjoying time with friends and family.

Did you do all the things you wanted?  I know we didn't.  I think we did a good job of not over booking our summer.  We had times where we were home and relaxing.  We had times where the kids were "bored" and had to navigate boredom. But we had a great summer!  We took a couple trips away from home, we entertained friends, we went to a few festivals and did a few new things in our area.  What more can I ask?!?  We made memories and that is all I can ask for.  I want my children to have a great childhood and my husband and I are doing everything we can to give them the best.

I am trying not to look at the "to do" list I created for my family for the summer. If we actually did everything I listed, I doubt we could have slept!  But we did a bunch, and we are blessed to be able to move some things to the fall.

Don't stress about what you didn't do, celebrate the memories you were able to create.  Remember, not everyone is as lucky as you are.

Happy Monday!

January Book Review

Welcome back to our monthly book review. This is the post where I share the books I read last month, rate them and share the jacket summary.  I hope you are able to find a few new books to add to your reading list! However.... This month was a struggle for me.  On average I read about 4-5 books a month.  If I don't like a book, or can't get into it, I stop reading.  Life is too short to read a book that doesn't hold my interest.  That happened more this month than ANY month, in the last 3 years where I have been tracking what I read.  I must have started and stopped 4 books. I just couldn't not get past the first couple chapters.  It was a struggle for sure.   This month, I read a series on Kindle Unlimited that I will only count as 1 book.   I'll explain more below.   The Christmas Retreat By Grace Meyers   My rating: 4/5 My comments:  This was a 6 book series.  The books were about 70 pages long....

50+ Word of the Year Ideas

Happy New Year! I hope you are starting the new year rejuvenated from the holidays!  I am so glad you are here and joining me on this corner of the internet.  Welcome! I love the start of a New Year.  It's a fresh start, clean slate and a chance to take a look at the year ahead.   In the last post , I talked about how I don't make New Years Resolutions.  Instead, I decide on a WORD.  I think of what I want the year to look like. How I want to shape decisions and what I want to accomplish.   This year I chose....... I want to be more consistent in many aspects of my life.  I am printing this image and putting it on my desk at work and next to my bed.   Have you thought of a word?   If you want to do a word of the year instead of a resolution, I compiled over 50+ words and definitions for you!  Take a look below to help you think of what you want this year to look like/focus on.  You can always pick one for yo...

December Book Review.... AND full list from 2023

Welcome to my favorite post of the month - BOOK REVIEW!   Going forward this post will be the first Wednesday of the month.  This month was different because of the word of the year post last week.  In December I technically read 5 books.  However, the books in the Asheville series were short and quick reads.  Honestly, they could have been combined to make one long book.  So, without any more chatter, below are the books I read in December. Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews My Rating: 3.5 / 5 Back of book: The night before her wedding, in the middle of an oh-so-smart rehearsal dinner, interior decorator Keeley Murdock chances upon her fiancĂ© and maid of honor in flaming flagrante delicto. Keeley throws the hissy fit to end all hissy fits, storms out and earns herself instant notoriety in her tiny hometown of Madison, GA. The next day, though, she has to deal not only with a broken engagement but also with her business being shut out by folks in a t...
