Pinterest Designed My Bathroom

We finished the renovation in our master bathroom a few weeks ago.  It’s gorgeous and I am so happy with the results.  This entire process, besides the shower accent (thank Melissa!) came from Pinterest and Home Depot.  Literally, this is a Pinterest Bathroom!

When we decided we wanted to redo the space I knew how I wanted the sink area to be.  (our bathroom has a sink area and then a separate space for the shower and toilet.)  The set up works great for us so I knew I didn’t want to change that.  I had pinned a bathroom I loved a couple years ago.  In looking at my “Master bathroom” board on pinterest I had a ton of similar layouts.  It was very obvious what layout I liked.  Thankfully my husband loved it too.

We literally duplicated the picture.  Down to the cabinet handles. As you can see the cabinet color changed therefore so did the granite. We started out with the shower area to mimic this bloggers but in the end we changed it completely.  I wish I could meet the blogger that did this bathroom and hug her!

Here is my inspiration picture:

Here is how ours turned out:

You can use Pinterest for more than just DIY projects.  Use the inspiration pictures and the end products to show your contractor exactly what you want.  We handed the contractors that were quoting this job my picture, literally.  This made sure that everyone was quoting the same thing.

Pinterest is also helpful in seeing the full layout of a material you chose.  For example, I brought home 4 floor tiles of one pattern that I really liked at the store.  I placed it against the wall to see how it went with the paint color, I laid them next to the rug, next to the cabinet color we picked, etc.   The pattern and color went with everything however it’s always hard to see how it will look when it’s complete.  SO… I put the name of the tile into Pinterest and I was able to find multiple bathroom and kitchen floors with the tile size and pattern.  It was great.  It’s like a crystal ball, kind of!  I was able to see the pattern in larger spaces as well as see the different grout colors people used with it to help narrow down what I wanted.  We did the exact same exercise with the granite name, shower door and shower tiles.  What a difference it makes to read the reviews and see the “end” result to make sure it’s what you want.

I also used Pinterest to come up with some “cool” things to make the bathroom unique.  In the tower cabinet there is an outlet.  Great idea! My hair dryer is always plugged in.

In the lower cabinets we have a hamper cabinet put in.  When this space was open underneath the long counter top we had our wicker laundry baskets.  We knew we couldn’t fit them all in the cabinets but we needed something so they weren’t all going to be in the closet or our bedroom.  I told the contractor I wanted something like the pull out garbage cans that people have in the kitchens.  Apparently “hamper cabinets”  Do exist and I didn’t make that up! We also ordered an extra hamper to keep in the basement in case this one breaks.  Genius right?

Don't you want to run to Pinterest and start saving ideas???  Wonderful place for inspiration!

What's Up Wednesday - 11/29/2023

In my quest to blog more frequently, I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer on the last Wednesday of the month.  Make sure you check out their blogs as well. I have been reading both of them for years and they are 2 of my favorites.  I love reading blogs and to me it's an escape from reality.  It's like talking to a girlfriend and taking a sneak peek into their lives, closet and home.   I have always wanted to blog.  I typically wrote a post every 6 months so right now I am pretty horrible, and no one reads.  But, in 2024 my goal is consistency.  Stay tuned, maybe someday you will be saying my blog is your favorite.  That would be music to my ears! Here is what we have been up to lately. 1.  Thanksgiving  I sat on the couch at my brother and sister in laws after a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.  It came to me, if you host or cook Thanksgiving, you are truly an angel.  You welcome people into your homes, cook, entertain and ...

January Book Review

Welcome back to our monthly book review. This is the post where I share the books I read last month, rate them and share the jacket summary.  I hope you are able to find a few new books to add to your reading list! However.... This month was a struggle for me.  On average I read about 4-5 books a month.  If I don't like a book, or can't get into it, I stop reading.  Life is too short to read a book that doesn't hold my interest.  That happened more this month than ANY month, in the last 3 years where I have been tracking what I read.  I must have started and stopped 4 books. I just couldn't not get past the first couple chapters.  It was a struggle for sure.   This month, I read a series on Kindle Unlimited that I will only count as 1 book.   I'll explain more below.   The Christmas Retreat By Grace Meyers   My rating: 4/5 My comments:  This was a 6 book series.  The books were about 70 pages long....

Let's Look - WHAT'S IN OUR GROCERY CART

HI!  If you are popping over for the link party , welcome!  I am a corporate Mom of 2 kiddos. This space of internet is where I share tips and tricks on how I work on balancing both aspects of my life, while still making time for fun!  Feel free to bookmark so you can check back every Monday and Wednesday. This month our "Let's Look" is grocery carts.  I almost skipped this month because I HATE grocery shopping.  This is a role my husband has thankfully taken on and he enjoys it.  I go so infrequently that I never know where anything is in the store.  I am the person people hate because I have to stop and read the signs above the aisle to see where I am going.  It is usually more expensive if I do have to go.  Since I don't go often, when I do, I notice new flavors, new products, etc!  I always come home with more than I had on my list.  So, it's a vicious cycle!   I didn't skip this post because I wanted to share somethin...
